Rachel holds a B.A. in Anthropology and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Michigan. She is a Head Preceptor in the Expository Writing Program and has served as Lecturer and Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Sociology Department. Her research explores changes in political economy and working-class mobilization. She has published on the relationship between precarious workers, collective action, and the state. She is a cultural and historical sociologist who teaches on work and labor, social class, social movements, and social change.
