Overview
Welcome to the Advising Programs Office (APO). The APO, through our network of advisors, oversees academic advising for Harvard College students from pre-matriculation through concentration declaration. The APO hopes to support students to realize and contextualize their individual educational experiences and build upon their own strengths, interests, and aspirations. In short, as our mission states, we hope students explore, plan, reflect, and make informed decisions, both inside and outside the classroom.
Our Mission
The Advising Programs Office (APO) cultivates quality academic advising for all Harvard College students. The APO promotes the intellectual and personal transformation of students across the four years by encouraging exploration, planning, reflection, and informed decision-making about curricular and co-curricular choices and opportunities.
The APO leads the pre-concentration advising network, inclusive of faculty, administrative and residential staff, and graduate and upper-level students by providing them education, training, resources, and support to ensure students receive robust and equitable academic advising. The APO collaborates with colleagues in academic departments, partners in the Office of Undergraduate Education, the Dean of Students Office, and other constituents to ensure that students are well prepared and empowered to access the full scope of Harvard College’s liberal arts and sciences education.

If you want to speak to an advisor in the Advising Programs Office, advisors on our staff are happy to connect with you via drop-in advising. We are available to chat about anything—course selection and registration, concentration exploration, curricular requirements or academic policy, and more! Harvard College undergraduates may sign up for an advising appointment via our Crimson Scheduler.
